Fine Arts
The JCYS Northwest Family Center partners with several fine arts organizations to offer outstanding enrichment programs for children ages 2 through 7.

JCYS DANCE 4 FUN
The Metropolis School of Performing Arts has designed a program for JCYS that will stimulate the enjoyment of dance while laying the foundation for further training. Through dance children gain social skills, build self-esteem and confidence, develop strength and coordination, expand their imagination, and foster an appreciation for the Fine Arts. Through caring and patient guidance your child will cultivate the love of dance. Our program is designed for children who simply want to dance and for those who aspire to move to a more advanced level.

Move and Groove - Ages 2 & 3
This class is an engaging and interactive way to introduce girls and boys to movement and dance by focusing on gross motor skills, balance, strength, stretching, shapes, energy use, direction, weight exchange and locomoting skills. Students get to explore their own physical expression (creative movement, pre-ballet, pre-jazz).

Tutus and Tap Shoes - Ages 3 & 4
Girls and boys will discover strength, rhythm and coordination while learning to dance. This class teaches early tap and ballet with a creative, relaxed and encouraging approach. The purchase of tap shoes is required.

Movers and Shakers - Ages 4 to 6
Girls and boys experience creative movement technique in an encouraging and non-threatening environment where they build a foundation for physical expression of thought and emotion. They begin to understand how to approach and articulate the infinite possibilities for movement. This fun concept-building class is a great bridge to more traditional dance technique classes.

All programming will culminate in a showcase performance at the Metropolis Performing Arts Center in the spring.
