School Age Programs

JCYS offers programs for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade at the JCYS Michael R. Lutz Family Center and at our "Orchard Branch" in Lincoln Park. At the Michael R. Lutz Center we offer After School and Holiday Programs.

Our programs encourage the children's social and emotional development while they enjoy recreational activities in a safe and nurturing environment.

Winter Camp and Spring Break Camp

When CPS students are off from school, what better place to have fun than JCYS. JCYS staff puts together days of fun activities that includes field trips, sports, arts and crafts and more. After School Program

This program is currently offered to children in Kindergarten through 6th grade who attend Burley, Blaine, Inter-American Uand Newberry Chicago Public Elementary schools. Children are transported from school to our site either on foot or by our agency vehicle. Our program is a fun, safe place for children to enjoy games, sports, outside time, and play with friends. While not a tutoring program, we offer a quiet place for children to complete their homework with our staff is on hand to supervise and help with questions. This fee does not include winter and spring break. Programs are offered during public school breaks for an additional fee

Newberry After School Program

JCYS offers after school programs for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Our program offers a safe, fun and nurturing place for children to participate in games, art activities, sports and homework time. Sign up for a schedule of 3, 4 or 5 days each week. This program supports children's healthy development by paying attention to their social, emotional and physical skills.

Children are met at Newberry by JCYS staff and walked from Newberry school grounds to our site at 1726 N. Orchard (known as the JCYS Orchard Branch) after school dismissal. Upon their arrival, they are served a healthy snack provided by JCYS. They will have outside time on the school playground to enjoy sports and games as well as each others company. Children also have time to spend on art projects, dramatic play and indoor activities such as board games. Homework time is also part of our daily routine.

After School Enrichment

Twinkle Toes
For children age 3 to 5 years
This dance and movement class is designed especially for children age 3-5 years. We provide a great way for your child to have fun and be fit as well as encourage self-confidence, coordination, and creativity. Classes consist of pre-ballet and creative movement and are given weekly at the JCYS Michael R. Lutz Family Center. Class size is limited to 12 students. Each lesson is 30 minutes long. The last day of class is our "mini-recital" and parent watch day.

Holiday Programs

Our Holiday Programs offer a variety of fun activities for children during school holidays. Children may go on field trips, play sports and games and swim at an indoor pool. The holiday programs run from 8:30 a.m. through 5:30 p.m. and parents provide a sack lunch. Snacks are provided by JCYS. This program is currently offered to children who attend Burley, Blaine, Inter-American, and Newberry Chicago Public Elementary schools
