Big City Day Camp is an urban day camp offering amazingly diverse activities and field trips in age-appropriate groups. Campers build socialization and physical skills in a safe and exciting environment. The diversity of activities and positive atmosphere entices campers to try new things and build new friendships. Swim lessons are offered through a partnership with Fitness Formula Club and their Red Cross certified instructors. All campers enjoy weekly sessions with professionals such as sports coaches, artists, musicians, and yoga instructors. Highly qualified college-educated counselors sprinkle in singing, cooperative games, dancing and arts and crafts. Campers enjoy sun and sand at Chicago beaches, local pools and water parks where they play water games and work on improving their swimming skills. Unique field trips with behind-the-scenes experiences, and cookouts round out this one-of-a-kind urban camp adventure. Trekkers (Kindergarteners) enjoy a ratio of 1:6, Wheelers (1st-2nd graders) are 1:9, and Fliers (3rd-6th) are 1:10. Shabbat is celebrated each Friday with songs and Challah. Campers that are 3rd grade and up can enjoy a one-night overnight adventure at JCYS Camp Henry Horner. Campers in this age group are eligible for a discount for Camp Henry Horner’s extended overnight camp sessions.

Camp is based at Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted.
Daily snacks are provided; campers provide their own peanut- and tree nut- free lunches which are stored in coolers.

Sunflower Day Camp

Camp Dates:June 21 - August 13, 2010

Sunflower Day Camp is designed especially for children 2 through 5 years old. Our campers enjoy age appropriate water activities, in-house field trips, and lots of fun outside where they enjoy arts & crafts, music, games and of course playing with their friends. Hot, nutritious kosher-style lunches are provided. Children need not be toilet trained.
