Programming and Services

JCYS offers a number of cultural, creative and sports programs that capture the imagination and appeal to varied interests throughout the year. JCYS Conference and Retreat Center maintains a high ropes course with a 45-foot climbing wall, allow ropes team challenge course, five tennis courts, large athletic fields for soccer and football, a skate park, ball fields for softball and baseball, volleyball courts, a lake for ice skating, regulation size basketball courts and an outdoor Olympic-size swimming pool. Miles of beautiful trails are perfect for hikes, jogging, cross country skiing, mountain biking and nature exploration. In addition, the Horner staff will be happy to assist you in finding and reserving local entertainment or reservations such as bowling, skating, karaoke, etc. High Sierra Adventure Center - ideal for any youth group, staff, or sports team needing an experience to bring them together for success. High Sierra tailors its teambuilding/low ropes programs to the needs, goals, and abilities of its clients in order to foster communication, develop teamwork and problem-solving skills as well as enhance cooperation and camaraderie. The Center's high ropes works to boost self-esteem by allowing participants to challenge comfort zones and overcome perceived limitations.

Sports & Recreation
With our 180 acres, there are limitless opportunities for sports and recreational activities. From softball to soccer, rollerblading on our skate park, and hiking our winding trails, there are options for every one and every ability to enjoy.

Waterfront - The waterfront on beautiful Wooster Lake is complete with canoes, kayaks, rowboats, volleyball, a campfire circle and a large sandy beach.

Henry Horner Outdoor Education - the 180 acre campus with rolling prairie, forest, lake, natural creeks and marshes enables Henry Horner to provide quality environmental educational programs. Camp Henry Horner has ½ day, full day, and overnight educational programs ranging from living history to outdoor survival skills programming. You can spend a day in the life of pioneer moving west or learn proper fire-building techniques.

Creative and Fine Arts - The JCYS Harriet Gerber Lewis Arts and Crafts and the Ruth Lodge Crafts House are wonderful places for painting, drawing, jewelry making, ceramics, tie-dye and crafts projects
