Junior Village
Our Pioneers (K-2nd grade) and Explorers (3rd-4th grades) live their days in programs designed specifically for their ages and their developmental and social needs.
Pioneers (K-2nd grade) have a structured schedule of widely varied activities. They have daily swim instruction and recreational swimming. They go on two trips each summer, enjoy special entertainment, and join all of camp for Friday afternoon programs. Second graders can also enjoy their first overnight experience.
Explorers (3rd-4th grade) discover new camp experiences in the Focus program, choosing their own twice-weekly activities. They continue to participate in instructional and recreational swims daily, and then rotate among an almost endless list of camp activities. Explorers also have the opportunity to attend up to thee overnights across the eight-week session.
Senior Village
Trailblazers (5th-6th grade) head on for more adventures and challenges, with the Camper's Choice program. Each camper selects an activity or specialty area, and develops favorite skills over a two-week period. There is a daily free swim and a trip every Thursday to area attractions, water/amusement parks and sports events. Then they have their own four overnighters here at Henry Horner, sleeping right in the cabins.
Earth Trekkers (7th-8th grades) means non-stop fun and excitement, planned for kids who are really coming into their own and who know what they like to do best. The program includes eight fabulous day trips and five camp overnights. Each four-week session includes a two-day camping trip. When here at camp, the Camper's Choice program continues.
