MORE EVENTS >>

When your child is not spotting unusual birds, learning about the natural world around us, building a campfire, fishing for bass in the lake, enjoying a team-led scavenger hunt in the prairies or a hike on any of the rustic or manicured paths, canoeing in the lake, identifying the butterflies that live in the 180+ acres (some of which have been designated as conservation property by the Illinois State Department of Preservation), it's because they might be taking their first swim lesson, diving for the very first time, climbing a two story rope system, or putting on a crazy play.

They might be sitting on the edge of the camp's amphitheatre stage learning a song, in the kitchen baking a self created cookie recipe, or in the art studio sculpting clay. Perhaps they are out on the sports field taking part in a camp-wide competition of medic, newcomb, volleyball, soccer, or one of a hundred other ways that kids can find to move a ball and have a ball at the same time.

At Camp Henry Horner, we specialize in creating an individual camp experience for each of our campers. Our Camp Consultants work with you and your child to build your own summer program by identifying what types of things your child would like to try that they never have attempted before and prioritize the things they most want to get out of camp. The individualization doesn't stop there. It also includes creating a summer program that works with your vacation, summer school, and work schedule. For the summer of 2009, our Camp Consultants will meet you and your potential camper at your home, at the JCYS Northwest Family Center in Buffalo Grove, or at the camp in Ingleside to create a summer that neither of you will ever forget!

Camp Henry Horner offers on-site extended day after-care along with a bevy of transportation options including self-drop, shared stops, and door-to-door service. From north to south, east to west, Camp Henry Horner creates a program that differentiates itself by its flexibility and its unique positioning as a day camp in an overnight camp setting.

Our Day Camp bus routes service Antioch, Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Gurnee, Grayslake, Wheeling (north of Hintz Road), Arlington Heights (north of Dundee Road), Long Grove, Lake Villa, Lake Zurich, Lindenhurst, Round Lake, and Spring Grove. Transportation to and from other towns may be available.
